Therapy Intensives
Terms & Conditions
1. Description of Therapy Intensives
Therapy intensives are extended therapy sessions designed to provide focused, structured support for individuals seeking accelerated progress in treatment. Intensives may include evidence-based approaches such as Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and other clinically appropriate interventions.
Therapy intensives are not a guarantee of specific outcomes. Progress varies depending on individual circumstances, engagement, and clinical needs.
2. Eligibility
Therapy intensives are available to adults who are appropriate for outpatient therapy services.
Prior to scheduling an intensive, clients must complete a consultation or intake assessment to determine whether an intensive format is clinically appropriate. The therapist reserves the right to recommend alternative services if an intensive is not the best fit.
Therapy intensives are not appropriate for individuals experiencing acute psychiatric crisis, active suicidal intent, or conditions requiring a higher level of care.
3. Payment Policy
Therapy intensives are private pay services and are not billed to insurance.
A deposit (non-refundable) is required to reserve an intensive appointment. The remaining balance must be paid prior to the start of the intensive unless alternative arrangements have been agreed upon in writing.
Accepted payment methods may include credit card or other electronic payment methods offered through the practice.
4. Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy
Due to the significant preparation and scheduling required for therapy intensives, the following policies apply:
• Deposits are non-refundable
• Rescheduling requires a minimum of 7 days notice
• Cancellations made with less than 7 days notice may result in forfeiture of the deposit
• If the client does not attend the scheduled intensive, the deposit will not be refunded
In the event of therapist illness or emergency, the intensive will be rescheduled at the earliest mutually available time.
5. Preparation and Participation
Clients may be asked to complete intake forms, questionnaires, or preparation exercises prior to the intensive. Completing these materials helps maximize the effectiveness of the intensive experience.
Active participation during the intensive is essential for meaningful progress.
6. Scope of Services
Therapy intensives are structured therapeutic sessions but do not provide 24-hour support. Contact outside scheduled sessions is limited and does not constitute ongoing crisis management.
If a client requires crisis support, they should contact local emergency services, a crisis hotline, or present to the nearest emergency department.
7. Confidentiality
All therapy services provided through the intensive are subject to the same confidentiality protections and legal exceptions that apply to standard psychotherapy services.
Clients will receive a full informed consent document outlining confidentiality limits prior to beginning services.
8. Follow-Up Care
While therapy intensives can create meaningful momentum in treatment, many individuals benefit from continued therapy after the intensive. Recommendations for follow-up care will be provided when appropriate.
9. Agreement
By scheduling and participating in a therapy intensive, the client acknowledges that they have reviewed and agreed to these terms and conditions.
